Here's a freebie bit of analysis for those interested:
After the cold war ended, the US was no longer viewed as a protector/rival but simply as a rival. The reunifaction of Germany broke the back of the richest nation in Europe. The European nations needed more income to float this reunification and the currency changeover helped steal from the euro-rich and give to the euro-poor, by tapping the Mark and profiting at the expense of Germans. Germans paid more for less and the rest of Europe were suddenly empowered to buy more.
The entire Euro-socialist scheme is a Ponzi scheme that is slowly self-destructing. As a result the need to prop it with Oil and 3rd world contracts has become paramount. With an eager, cash starved, Russia - Europe has worked to consolidate political and media power.
When the UK voted down the Euro, it became persona non-grata - as Belgium and France were counting on looting UK residents the same way they looted Germany. As a result, they certainly don't mind hanging the UK out to dry alongside the US as they wage a corporate-guerrilla war in Iraq against US/UK forces.
Not surprisingly, Sweden too is persona-non-grata as they knew what the Belgians and French were up to with the Euro-scheme. They have their own oil and don't need to participate in the Belgians loot-the-euros-then-the-world scheme.
Africa is in the state it is largely due to euro-oil-exploitation. The Middle East is in the state it is in largely due to French exploitation.
The US after decades finally throws its hat into the ring to create a stable middle east and the French and Belgians scream 'illegal' as all they see is lost revenue.
The real insurgency in Iraq has a name: TotalFinaElf.
