re: ruthlessness

So this is what you will take away from this fiasco: Be more ruthless, and it was all the fault of the press that we 'lost'.You get enough people pushing that line, and the terrorists won't need to do a damn thing to destroy either america or american civilization.

I didn't say "be more ruthless." I said our enemies, and those of Israel, are cut a huge amount of slack in the press while Israel and the U.S. are crapped on pretty much full time.

Did you see any of the coverage of the war in Lebanon? As I've said about other issues, if Hezbollah was actually paying for its coverage, it wouldn't have been any different.

Have you noticed now that the U.N. is sleeping uselessly at its posts in Lebanon (except when it rouses itself to condemn Israel for something) and Hezbollah is arming to the teeth and fortifying new positions, that press coverage is almost nil?

The examples of how our own media have treated the U.S. and our recent wars are legion. I quoted a John Leo column on the press at the beginning of the war in Afghanistan.

Had we never entered Iraq, this CE board, with one or two exceptions, would probably look exactly the same today, with the same rhetoric, the same body counts, the same anti-administration tirades. Is that another "fantasy?" I can also predict that Michael Moore will not vote Republican, although I have absolutely no strict proof of it.

We are dealing with an anti-Western bias, even in our own country, that is a lot older than the war in Iraq. And when it comes down to it, that worries me a lot more than any specific issue.
