Our borders were violated. Hawaii counts.

Sorry Tom but the Third Reich would never have come across our borders in Mexico. They were destined to fail no matter what our response in WWII would've been. We certainly hastened it but history has shown that imperialistic countries that stray too far in conquest beyond their borders are all doomed.

We had every moral right in WWII to enter the fray and nobody in the world questioned the impetus. We were directly attacked by Japan and had a formal declaration of war from Germany. In effect that's people coming across our borders.

But let's not forget that our involvement in the war resulted in the relief of Russia in the conflict and helped to ensure their huge postwar power grab. There's good and bad in all military decisions Tom and despite my own personal belief that our decision to enter the hostilities when we did was the morally right thing to do, I can't honestly say that the world today is a better one because of the decision. Who knows where things would be had the Russians and Germans bogged down for a decade depleting each other of lives and equipment or had Germany even won that conflict.

Germany could never have truly controlled that vast region after victory and they'd have been bled dry by the harsh weather and nationalistic population. The mix of Germany and Japan would never have lasted. The cultures were way too different and slanty eyed yellow short people would never have fit Hitler's blonde and blue-eyed master race. WWII was lost from the moment Hitler strayed beyond his borders. Our involvement hastened the evolution certainly but we also changed the postwar dynamics drastically and in many ways that didn't turn out so well for us.
