The sad thing is folks still live in the post WWII mindset where the west was a big happy pro-freedom family.
Most of Europe wants Islam to spread like a blanket over the third world.
I'm going to go through this again, not just for your sake or the left but for Tom's and the rest as well:
USA: Lots of cash. Sells and buys with reputable & quasi-reputable nations.
Europe: Not as much cash. Makes no distinction as to seller/buyer
To INCREASE buyer/seller base all Europe needs to do is diminish number of reputable nations USA does business with.
There are X amount of resources and X amount of customers. The US has an advantage on natural resources and customers and other nations feel fully justified in holding business relationships with freedom's enemies.
There is no nation we can really trust to assist us in the war on terror - unless their own interests are immediately at risk. Japan, UK and several others are about it and, because of the UK's rapidly changing demographics, it is already compromised. The Thatcher era is long past. The rest are too busy using Islam to expand their customer/resource base. In the past 20 years Europe has made the cornerstone of their financial empire - trade in the Middle East, Africa and since 1991, Russia has also been added to their customer base.
The Volcker report reads like a who's who of European/Russian/Middle Eastern corruption.
Russia has flirted with fire and now finds itself with both a large muslim customer base and a violent muslim former soviet republic as a perpetual thorn in its side as well as Islamic terror attacks within its borders. Like France & Germany, the use of muslim cheap labor has significant ramifications over the long-haul for national security. The US is in the same strategic lose-lose with Mexico, the only difference is Catholicism is (now anyways) a somewhat less primitive & significantly less violent religion than Islam in its present state.
Europe wants African violence to spread - because they will pick up the oil contracts in the nations that fall under militant Islam - and push out US & UK concerns. It's pure self-interest & the French have never been known to be above treachery and collusion with the enemy. They were dealing with Saddam behind our backs right along with the treacherous UN as recently as a few years ago!
You want to TRUST these people? The same people who veto sanctions against those who practice genocide?
No, you can't trust Europe. You can only barter with them and keep a close eye on their dealings with the enemy.
The war on terror is also a war on those nations internal policies that exploit terror to their business gains. The war on terror immediately ticked off Europe becasue they knew it was a war against their business practices. "We''l handle it!" they said "It's a police matter." Yeah, right. The terrorists are on their payroll and vice-versa!
France, Germany, Belgium & Russia are therefore immediately off the table in terms of trust. Fool us once shame on you, fool us twice - shame on us.
We can trust Japan, Australia, The UK, Sweden, Poland, several former Soviet republics and a handful of others depending on which way the wind is blowing.
Again, no one has to believe it. It would be much nicer if we could just pretend Al Qaeda was on its own in the world. It would be nicer if Europe was filled with pro-freedom loving people instead of socialists who are always ready to go with self-interest (money & handouts) before freedom. It would be nice if Russia wasn't run by the former KGB and it would be wonderful if these folks really wanted to prevent a nuclear empowered middle east.
But 'taint so.
They would love a nuclear Iran. Why? It SECURES their business dealings in the region. They want an Iran resistant to US invasion - a Pakistan immune to invasion. Who the heck gave /is giving these folks the bomb and nuclear technology anyways? France & Russia! (& after 1994 Germany too)
NEWSFLASH: Israel does a tiny amount of business with France & Russia and it does do big business with (gasp) the USA! So for them, "No Israel - no problem!"
I'd like to live in your guys world of comradery, trust and cooperation - but that's a good way of ending up with thallium in your sushi.
