HDTV is only about 1024 by 768 pixels, vs normal TV which is about 800 by 600. I don't have the real figures handy but you'd be amazed how low-res they are.
They LOOK good, because it's a moving image, but for still images you can't beat a high-res monitor.
At home I have twin 1920 x 1024, and that is nothing like big enough nowadays!
