But...
Most Iraqis had little or no arms. Saddam had a million man army. And how could the Iraqis get organized. Many who spoke out against Saddam were killed. This caused the Iraqis to live in fear and to stay quiet, and stay to themselves.
The Iraqis were living in a submissive environment. I don’t see how they could have never revolted on there own. Those who have tried are all dead.
As far as that million man army’s loyalty is concerned. I don’t know what it would have taken to get them to turn. They were also ruled by fear. Any one of them who hinted at disloyalty would have been killed.
I just don’t see how the Iraqis could have ever escaped Saddam’s clutches on their own. Not in the environment they lived in, and not as poorly armed as they were. They needed outside help from someone.
