As I've pointed out before, if we had knocked Saddam off at his dinner table with an X-ray laser, not much would have been different.

Assuming that Iraq without Saddam would slide comfortably into democracy was one of the major mistakes made in that war. Just like assuming taking bin Laden out right away would have ended Islamic terrorism.
