True, it's early

I was looking less for who people think might win, or who will be nominated, and more for who, out of the entire field of possibles or even barely-possibles, we could stand to vote for on any basis other than "better anybody than the opponent."

I'm not impressed by the Republican Party right now, which, over the past 12 years, discarded a lot of principles and concepts in domestic policy that I was hoping they would implement. Even when it was becoming obvious that the oncoming election train was going to hit them hard, they went on voting for pork and earmarks, giving up on immigration reform, increasing spending even faster than the Democrats, getting "RINO" Republicans elected who would turn around and stab us in the back, creating more entitlements when we are being crushed by the existing ones, and pretty much making the best case for term limits I've ever seen. Bush, as president, has been far from blameless in all this. He could have stood against even his own party on fiscal discipline, immigration, and other issues. Tax cuts are great, but I waited in vain for any sign of holding spending under control.

There were other things. Reagan would have given guns to the pilots. Bush didn't.

Has ANY politician spent more than ten years in Washington without becoming part of the problem?
