re: In what way does that relate to my post?

You make an interesting point but you are "sort of" or certainly making a comparison of apples and oranges.
This is my third attempt at replying to this post and I decided focus on fundamentals:
I'm going to divide knowledge into two branches: Fiction and non-fiction [our resident librarian may correct me how I do this:].
Fiction includes things like science fiction, entertainment [mystery, fantasy, etc] , poetry, etc.

Non-fiction would include science, commentary/opinion, religion, history, pseudoscience, philosophy, etc.

The "significance on the almighty dollar" doesn't indicate to me any particular body of knowledge. It doesn't even point to capitalism- because if anything can be said that generally characterizes socialism/communism is that it's attempt to characterize the sum of human activity in economic terms- in other words the "almighty dollar" trumps every other aspect of living and explains all social problems in terms of lack or abundance of the "almighty dollar".

So the "significance on the almighty dollar" is it is an activity rather than a body of knowledge. But at the same time the importance associated with any body of knowledge is how it translates into human activity.

As SDF points of there is connection between pseudoscience and "too much significance on the almighty dollar". But I think what drives pseudoscience is people's needs to find answers/solutions and though pseudoscience may appear to provide these answers/solutions, in doesn't actually do this.
