I have kids.

This gives me a license to watch kid TV. Yay!

Thomas the Tank Engine began in the 1940s as stories Wilbert Awdry would tell to his children based on trains he had watched and loved as a child. The first books were written in 1945. The 26th and final story written by Wilbert Awdry came out in 1972. The first such story written by his son Christopher came out in 1983.

British TV produced the first "Thomas" shows in 1984. Ringo Starr came on board in 1985. In 1989, the shows came to American PBS.
