The ACLU is joined by that radical left-wing organization, the US Chamber of Commerce, in opposing Hazleton's ordinance because the ordinance makes a hash of uniform Federal regulations re: immigration and foreign workers.

The Chamber of Commerce opposes the Hazelton ordinance because it deprives employers of due process, revoking their operating licenses even if they employ illegals with false documents. The ACLU opposes it because the ordinance is so draconian that it encourages ethnic profiling by employers who, naturally, desire to keep their operating licenses. If no one you employ is Hispanic, then no one will turn you in to the constable.

This is a case of Americans against Americans, all right: the mayor of Hazelton against his business community.

You might want to find out what has begun to happen to the businesses in Hazelton before you talk too big.
