re: The rabble and the oligarchy.

I'm sorry to be blunt, but I've been involved in several entrepreneurial efforts, and you really don't know what you're talking about.

The company founders worked harder than anyone, and it was their butts on the line if the company failed. An employee just gets another job. I've had bosses who, during rough times, killed their own salaries before they laid off employees. The idea that the "bosses" just sit there playing with their steel click balls while the money rolls in has no basis in reality.

And catch up with the times: most employees aren't miners, dockworkers, and illiterate laborers any more. At least in the fields I've worked in, they are usually valuable and not simple cogs that are easily replaced. Unions weren't forced out of businesses--workers didn't need them any more.

You're not the only one who talks "Joe Hill" around here. I sometimes wonder where you guys worked in your pasts in order to shove this Simon Legree image of employers into your heads. I doubt it was an entrepreneureal startup.

Look around you. Much of our economy is driven by companies and products that didn't even exist twenty or thirty years ago, and the giant corporations like GM, IBM and U.S. Steel that I was told would be the future rulers of the earth by the socialists of my youth, are now on the back burners. Remember the old movie "Rollerball?"
