Offshoring, declining real pay and standard of living, excesses and corruption at the top...how can unions not make a comeback?
It says a lot about liberal economic thinking that the first response to overseas competition would be to raise the price of American labor.
Statistics on union membership can be found here.
The actual level of membership is 12 percent. Of that number, 4 out of 5 are in the public sector.
The modern labor union is a lot less about the workers than it is about being an engine for Democratic Party political power, which is why unions are so strongly supported by Democrats. Follow the money.
You want the single reason the Left and Democrats are all over Wal-Mart's case, take the number of Wal-Mart employees and multiply by the union dues paid annually by that type of employee.
Glad you're doing well where you're working. I assume you aren't being whipped to your desk every morning by overseers, so where the heck DO you get all this stereotypical cartoon stuff about how modern American business supposedly works? Apparently you get all your information on the Evils of NeoFeudal Capitalism from some other source than personal experience. You might want to check to see if those sources have axes to grind. See previous two paragraphs.
