It may be that I was bit presumptuous to speak for half of the membership of the Zone. It may depend on how you interpret "many" in SDAI-Tech1's definition of the enemy: "and many of them are here and seem to be 'nice', if naive, people".
Personally I'm not ashamed to label myself a Liberal, making me one of SDAI-Tech1's targets. On top of that, I was interpreting his use of the term from his perspective on the Right (though sometimes along a corkscrew dimension that doesn't always map to the traditional axis) as a catchall for everyone who doesn't agree with the Right--the absence of Rightism. For icing on the cake, from a global perspective, he's attacking the 2/3 of Americans and a larger majority of everyone else who disagree with Bush's war in Iraq specifically and his foreign policy in general. The Zone is a pretty fair approximation of a representation of attitudes in the larger world.
Or, maybe I did misinterpret the target of his smears. Who knows? SDAI-Tech1 has a gift for slippery writing that creates plausible deniability, and what he wrote could be interpreted, albeit in a self-serving way, as being narrowly targeted. OTOH, I have years of experience interpreting Techie, and I think I know what he really meant. Given the slippery writing, I'd rather trust my gut than get bogged down in debating how many words can dance on the head of a semantic pin.
