I never heard of this Drudge Report until I logged on here about a year ago. I knew there were political blogs but I never read them, right or left. I still don't. And I don't intend to start either, I've seen what it does to people. In fact, although I do a lot of surfing, the only websites I frequent are this one, a veteran's website I contribute occasionally to, and a few boating sites.
I read Time and Newsweek at the dentist's office, and watch the network evening news every night. I listen to NPR in the car, and I watch Chris Matthews on Sundays because I like the humor. That's the extent of my political education. The only magazines I subscribe to are Good Old Boat and Sky and Telescope.
Not everyone is obsessed with politics, it's too much like professional wrestling for my taste. Actually, I have very little interest in national party politics, and only some interest in politics in the abstract, from a historical or cultural perspective. I get enough of the latter here to keep me coming back, but this left/right repartee I only put up with out of a sense of civic duty. Somebody has to keep you righties from thinking you control the dialogue.
