You have to remember than I'm Canadian, and Canadians weren't subjected to the same propaganda you Americans were about "communism". To this day, I think you conservatives used it as the "enemy under the bed". You guys are always looking for something to fear and fight about.

The space race helped to break our tense relations. I don't know what to say except you MEN always have to have an enemy to keep your testosterone levels up. The arms race has brought us to the brink of insanity; and just as we were getting the world under control, in steps Alfred E. Bushman.

If I thought we should punt backwards and try and build relations with the UN, then we have already chewed that up and spit it out, so we are out on a limb.
The UN is supposed to be the watchdog and we are supposed to have universal agreement on rogue nations and what to do with them. Acting as Top Cop in todays delicate situation is like asking for it, if you ask me.

Pull out of Iraq, and if and WHEN we need to, we could send in air strikes to take out Iran's nuclear capabilities. Now if Russia is moving towards them, we've just advanced on the chess board, no?
