It's not contempt, Frank

Believe me, I have no contempt for the US.

For Bush, yes, loads of contempt, but Bush is not America. Thankfully.

My wife and kids are native-born Americans, my co-workers and (now) most of my friends are American, through and through. I chose to come to this country, to make it my homeland. America has been *extremely* good to me and I in return always wish to be extremely good to America.

I love this country...I just don't always love what it does. I love Americans, but there too I don't always love what we do.

As far as your comment earlier in the thread about how the Iraq war has affected me, I don't have the words to adequitely describe it. We've killed countless thousands of people, have dragged an already suffering nation to the brink of civil war. Iraq was no threat to us, none whatsoever. Our dislike for Saddam was completely insufficient cause for what we've done. If we claim to have done it in the name of 9/11, then we're fools as well as bullies. If we claim to have done it in the name of the Iraqi people, then we're liars. The only freedoms we've brought to Iraq are the freedom to be hungry, the freedom to be in personal danger all the time, the freedom to have their society hijacked by outside influences...first and foremost, us!

Our war in Iraq is unjust, a stain on our nation that will never disappear.
