Fortunately, usually it's just amusing. The nomenclature on these things is the equivalent of labeling the parts of a car along the lines of "thing that makes it go," "round thing" or "combustion place."
There is no real engineering information here, although the art is pretty.
I could make an equally valid case that these designs are layouts for large estate gardens.
