He seems to believe that consensus of our community would be that Keith Olbermann and Ann Coulter are two peas in a pod. I have more faith in the goodness of people on here than our resident cynic so hopefully you'll prove him wrong. (not you Lee. I know which side you'll fall on)
I see a huge difference in class and functionality between the two. Obviously, they both have an entertainment aspect to their jobs. It's inevitable in the news media but then that would apply to Walter Cronkite as well and I can't imagine anyone throwing him in with Coulter.
Ann Coulter's job is to shock all and she frequently upsets people of both parties (I would hope). I hardly see that as Olbermann's task. While his politics falls to the left he's hardly a shock jock, simply an impassioned editorial presenter. The criticisms he gives are the types that have been accepted in reasoned debate throughout the ages, clearly partisan at times but overall respectful of their target.
Now, I am considering that once again Tom has managed to move the subject of the original debate to a topic of his own framing (his chicken-shit way of avoiding real balanced substance) but I hardly care this time cause we'd already talked the other stuff to death.
So if we had polling capabilities it would lend itself well to this question. We don't, so I'm relying on you to each write something in defense of your choice.
Thanks,
Art
