No one can be elected these days, unless they have a lot of money- and the McCain-Feingold "campaign reform bill" made this worse.

I don't think with Teddy is as much a pursuit power as much as using the vast power he has. The short list of the people controlling the Dem party has to include Ted Kennedy and has been that way for decades.
The Rep Party doesn't have anyone who control it to the same extent as Kennedy controls the Dems. Nor does the Dems have a equal to Kennedy. Kerry became nominee because of Kennedy and without Kennedy, Clinton wouldn't make it through the primaries.
I'm not saying Kennedy has total control, but rather he is a significant force, and probably not as significant in the future as he was in the past.
