Actually, I clearly recall...

The Governor of Arizona dismissing the Phoenix Lights with a joke press conference,
complete with a guy in a stereotypical alien costume jumping up on stage to "attack"
him.

I was actually against that stunt because it just gave more fuel to the fire of those
who thought the lights were real alien spacecraft, or interdimensional beings, or
Smurfs, or whatever.
