Not Hollywood

You and others have bought into the idea that Science = Establishment
and that it should be rejected on those grounds. The "pure" form of science
deals with facts and evidence, not politics and playing favorites, though
human beings always tend to mess up a good thing.

But science as done right is better than any past method we have to
find out how things really operate.

You remind me of the time a friend went to an anti-Cassini/nuke rally in
Boston. People were upset about the Cassini probe being launched to
the planet Saturn in 1997 because the probe carried nuclear fuel for
power. At the rally my friend was clearly the only one on the side of
the spacecraft being launched.

When he brought up his points why the nuclear fuel carried by Cassini
was safe from being exposed to the public, one woman told him they
had already made up their minds and were not interested in the facts.

Maybe there are beings out there whose mission in life is to come all
the way to Earth just to mess with us stupid talking monkeys. But
where is the proof? The real proof.

Nothing substantial will be decided here, since things are clearly lopsided
in favor of the believers and the skeptics here can clearly make little or
no headway. But I'll be damned if I am going to have my words and ideas
warped by people who clearly wouldn't know science or its methods if it
bit them on the ass.
