Only a fool would get all of their news from isolated one-sided sources. Mainstream media and alternative media can help to keep each other honest, and neither one should be the sole source for anything important.
Alternative media has exposed a lot of problems with the mainstream news. Nobody was doing this for years before that, and it makes one wonder sometimes how much we knew back then that wasn't so. One also wonders about the committment to free speech on the part of those who use "alternative" as a curse word.
Someone who only watches MSNBC is as much of an idiot as someone who only gets their news from Rush.
With the internet, there's no excuse for being ignorant. All you have to do is a small amount of research, and look at all the sources for yourself.
