At one time Marcia was advocating for going to war against Iraq because some friend of hers had known a dictator and, as Marcia said, "I hate dictators."
On Flame I became insulting, and the worst comment was that she "shouldn't worry her pretty little head over it". That was the extent of my "vitriol". (Not nearly as vitriolic as FrankC's direct reference to me not long ago as "a fuking alcoholic".)
Marcia went wild, and embarrassed herself. You may have noticed that she is quite knowledgeable regarding some matters, and also "exciteable". There are people on these Boards, frequenting Space, who also can be quite knowledgeable but not particularly models of stability. Others, most notably Robert, became defensive of her.
Marcia asked that the thread be removed. My assumption was and is that it was because she had made such a fool of herself. I also assumed that was why she stayed away so long. I had no objections to the thread remaining, and in fact it should have as this would have prevented some people who are loose with the truth from referring to it in a manner which might cast aspersions upon me.
You may not have noticed that the response to her post from me was not an 'ad hominem' attack, as was hers, and as was the inference of FrankC's post. "Restraint in tongue and pen" is my occasional motto.
