From F Scott Fitzgerald

"The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function."

The work from which this line is from, which I admit I haven't read, apparently continues: "One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be determined to make them otherwise."

Personally, I almost like that second line better than the first. Gonna hafta read me some more Fitzgerald. Do you suppose he knew Bowser??

Anywho, it's not wrong, per se, to rate space exploration lower than #1 on humanity's To Do list. I want to see it continue (and I think Bowser's made it clear he does too), but it's impossible to deny that we have a great many other pressing issues right under our nose. And frankly, if it comes down to going back to the moon, or feeding hungry kids, the moon can wait.
