"Oh, but even if NASA is a jobs program why would people like Bowser be against it?"
NASA is a job program- it's not in doubt. As for why Bowser is against a job program- I doubt he is. He just doesn't realize what he is looking at.
"Of course, he answered that at the Space board. Still, he had no bearings on the space program or any in general because he does not believe in one."
From what got from Bowser's post; he had high expectation that weren't realized. If he had realized it was a job program mostly- than this expectation would have been met- it's employed people and those people are relatively happy. In terms of a comparing job programs: NASA been generally better than say some military which is expected not to ever go to war.
"[Now, at the moment space exploration is obviously seen unimportant- if it was important more money would spend on doing it. I think if the Dems showed more support for NASA and provided modest or significant increases in NASA funding [with the purpose being to speed up the current timetable for exploration of Moon and Mars] I would applaud this dem effort, but I don't see this as very likely- I don't see any chance this year, but maybe next year.
In meanwhile I see more hope from private sector- and the world changing in general.]
You know what the bottom line is, it's that space exploration is NOT unimportant.
It never was unimportant.
I refuse to be known as part of the generation that could, but didn't. "
Well, in terms of bottom lines- exploration with NO desire or will to find anything worth the price of the exploration is essentially worthless [or of negative value {less than worthless- a loss]} . And that has been the major problem.
Over the decades, NASA has spent hundreds of billion of tax payer dollars. Now, as a job program, that's relatively cheap. But in terms of exploring the solar system, it's been hideously expensive with little return and the worse part is they were/are pretending they doing something when they actually weren't- so the biggest loss was in the humanity's time wasted rather than a relatively puny "few hundreds of billions of dollars".

- Bowser is scum. (n/t)
- I'd bet you are correct. Maybe for the wrong reason, but still I won't argue with the conclusion.
