Testing

Lindy, I don't know what it is with me but the hair on my neck always starts bristling when someone posts one of these "personality" tests online. I just can't bring myself to take them because I find myself manipulating answers in my mind.

I'm simply too analytical to just let myself go and plop down on one of the multiple choices I'm presented with because I start trying to get into the mind of the test's author.

My aversion to testing in general, other than for procedure-oriented tasks (such as math and science), is that it's almost completely impossible to remove the author's bias from the questions and to remove the tendency from the taker the factor in their mind "How do they want me to answer?".

I start wondering just who the people are that created the test and can't help but have suspicions that the design is in place to prove statistics based on their own bias even if their conscious intent is honorable.

Lastly though, I don't need any test to decide where I am politically because it's my intent to never fall solely into one category or the other. I always want my opinion on any single issue to be based on my own research and life experience and not clouded at all by preconception. If some test showed that I leaned heavily to one side, I might just be tempted to artificially push myself back to center by taking on opposing traits that wouldn't be natural.

My politics? I'm a member of the Art Party.
