Propagandist

ER, sure seems to me it might be worthy of a look before you start attaching labels because as far as I can tell, the propagandist title is something that's coming mostly from his adversaries and from what I've seen you've never been one to blindly accept stuff without experiencing it yourself.

And even if your label was correct, what would be the harm of seeing a film or interview? Are you worried that the man would be so effective in his propaganda that your couldn't see through it and keep your views independent?

I will totally agree with you that Moore's films come down on one side of an issue and he uses his skills as a filmmaker and entertainer to play at your heartstrings and humor to sell that point. What I find refreshing about that though is that the other side has so many more outlets for the opposite message and so much more money and power behind their viewpoint, it's kinda like watching a revenge film where some guy's family gets wiped out by the evildoers and you get to watch as the mild-mannered man takes up arms and gets the justice you so yearn for.

Had I never seen one of his films and only listened to both sides of the debate, I would have truly missed out on a tremendous experience because no matter what you feel about his viewpoints or methods, the man has wonderful entertainment instincts and incredible comic timing. He has this sense of irony that will leave you sitting there thinking how uncomfortable he must make the jerks in Washington that fall into his radar. That's worth the price of admission right there.

Had it not been for Michael Moore would we ever have seen the full excruciating footage of Bush staring dumbly at My Pet Goat while his country was under terrorist attack? Somehow I think not. We might have seen snippets but Moore had the sense to let it run for the full time and give the viewer the ability to see just how long it took for the man to process the info while his aides were imploring him to act. I'm sorry ER but the propaganda in that case was coming from Bush himself.
