Blood, Sweat, & Tears

Lindy, you should know I do a great David Clayton Thomas impersonation at karaoke. It's funny to see a younger crowd react to those old classics like "You Make Me So Very Happy" and "And When I Die". You can see the songs register as something they may have heard before but none of them are singing along so you know they've moved onto the newer stuff. They just appreciate a song done well.

The older folks are definitely into that music though and always have wonderful things to say after the performance.

Blood, Sweat, & Tears and Chicago were my first real introduction to real rock and roll while the rest of the country was getting into the Beatles and the more pop stuff. What drew me to them was my more classical background. I just couldn't believe that such wonderful brass instrumentalists were creating such a unique sound. The lead guitarist for Chicago just blew me away with his speed and inventiveness. I had never heard drum solos like the Chicago drummer was throwing out and the arrangements of BS&T just amazed me, not to mention that perfect voice of Thomas.
