None of it sinks in does it? The scales simply prove that folks think in topical geometry rather than volume. Even IF we were to turn the entire surface mile into a metroplex the planet would still be doing perfectly fine.

The seas are miles deep and provide the lions share of the oxygen we breathe. The planet wouldn't skip a beat. And what's more, if we were technologically capable of covering the oceans and every bit of surface with a mile high metroplex, we'd also be able to control the exact chemical composition of the atmosphere, manipulate elements and be masters of technocracy. There would be no food shortages or housing shortages and apparently there would also have to be near unlimited wealth and the most efficient resource production capacity the planet has ever experienced. Life would surely be FAR better for 9/10ths of suffering humanity than it is now!

Fear and indoctrination. The green folks are sick with both and then spread their sickness to others.

It is sad to see folks here on a "supposed" space exploration board that are defending this film, whether in jest or otherwise...to be honest it's somewhat scary actually. A disturbing and brief glimpse into the human-hater, mindset.
