Even if we never transmitted again and every ETI missed our leakage, etc., some day - unless
we get really stupid - our descendants are going to venture into the wider galaxy.
We won't be able to stop them any more than trying to stop a child from growing up.
There are always going to be groups that aren't happy with things here on Earth and
if they can find a way to escape, they will. Some day even the Sol system won't be
big enough and some of them will venture on to the stars. And some day they will
come across others, unless the whole galaxy is empty of such life.
Of course by then our distant children will likely not consider Earth to be home, if
they even have a memory of it. So once again Earth will be safe, if it even matters
by then.
But we are going to spread into the galaxy some day, so why not prepare now?
