Well then there are 3 possible outcomes
1. There are a few rich, and many poor. There aren't enough rations to make everyone rich.
2. Everyone is poor and surviving on "rations" as you call them.
3. We have population control so that there are enough resources to make everyone rich.
These days we seem to be living #1 while striving for #2. Option #3 is considered "evil" or "draconian" or "impossible to enforce".
I tell you we are screwed.
