No symphony orchestra, either
Which was a good thing. The world didn't need yet another copy of the Star Wars theme by John Williams. I agree that the Voyager and DS9 themes were more musically sophisticated.
When Voyager first came on, I was still using a dialup Internet connection, and the opening notes of the theme sounded exactly like my modem dialing CompuServe: "Niine eight ohhhh, one oh four-four". Seeing as how I had to listen to that several times a day, I couldn't get the theme out of my head, and I just hate that. I found myself elaborating on the lyrics: "Niine eight ohhhh, one oh four-four, I just can't take no more, I'm out the door...hmmm hmmm hmm-hmm hmm-hmmmmmm..." Sometimes a TV theme can be a little too good.
