The ST animated episode The Slaver Weapon
Written by Larry Niven himself:

I know Roddenberry didn't consider the animated episodes canon,
but I think that is a load of bull, considering that most of the
original cast did the voices, many episodes were authored by
veteran ST writers, the series stayed well within the ST universe,
and it was well done overall, especially for a so-called Saturday
morning kids program in the 1970s.
So, sorry, Gene - I know started it all but you're gone now
and the series has evolved beyond your original vision.
