The contradictions made my head spin

Sure, we should expend an insane amount of blood and treasure to bring freedom to Iraq (by which Bush means free-market capitalism). Then later he orders Congress to extend the bill covering his illegal domestic wiretapping program. The contradictions were recursive: If Congress fails to give him the authority he demands, then surely there'll be another terrorist attack on the US; but he's threatened to veto the bill if it doesn't grant retroactive immunity to the companies that helped him undermine the Bill of Rights.

Anyone who paid attention could see that Bush cares a lot more about protecting his big business cronies than protecting America.

For the most part, I found his speech flaccid, with occasional moments of incredible chutzpah. It's so great that all of a sudden Bush is a champion of the fight against global warming...and we're not supposed to remember that he spent the first seven years of his term doing anything humanly possible to block action on the problem, including censoring scientific papers and muzzling scientists. You're doing a heck of a job, Bushie.

The best thing about the speech was the knowledge that it's the last doublespeak SOTU that we'll hear from George W. Bush. Every day that goes by, "President Obama" sounds better and better.
