Gimme a break
In your post you assigned conservatives the role of pessimists and fearmongers. I countered with a list from the other direction, which you are apparently going to ignore.
I'll even repeat it for you:
You look at most major issues where we are constantly declared to be doomed, and almost all of them have the Left behind it. Climate change. Economic disaster. End of the oil supplies. Death of species. Destruction of the Constitution. Loss of the environment. You can go on with this list as long as I can.
No liberal should ever be able to use the word "fearmongering" with a straight face.
You can read that list, and hear the voices behind it as well as I can, and even supply some of the same names that come to my mind. A few of them are here. "Gimme a break" yourself.
As for the rantiest part of my rant, which I will grant you was a digression from the main subject, these represent the views from the MoveOn Left, who still consider themselves a force in the Democratic Party (true or not), and their views are no secret. Maybe they won't have much influence with the eventual Democratic candidate. I can hope. But if Ted Kennedy is a major factor...
Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. JFK was a staunch Cold Warrior. Who knows what Obama might become once he actually gets clued in?
And finally:
...the only solution to real or invented problems--always--being turning our lives and property over to our betters.
I stand by that as I always have. Over the time I've posted here, nobody has ever answered my challenge to show me one exception to increased statism as the liberal solution presented for every crisis.
