When much younger and under a lot of stress for a long time I would occasionally hear my name called. Or think I did. It was only 6 or 8 times total, and there seemed to be no pattern in it. I asked people, and about half said they had heard things that weren't there. I didn't take it seriously, but did note the events.
I finally asked doctors when seeing them about other things. They said it was very common under some circumstances.
I once did an evaluation on a kid who heard voices telling him to do some strange things, like leave $500 in a bag on a window ledge. I asked him if he heard the voices when anyone else was around. He replied he did. I asked if anyone else heard the voices.
"They say they don't," was the reply.
