That feeling is all too common. It primarily accompanies violent deaths where the field is now unable to oscillate with a damaged physical body.
As I mentioned in the post above to Eri, this is the opportunity we have to put compensation into effect. Slowly we balance these imbalanced wave forms (and that's all experience really is - an enormous amount of small and large wave forms carrying a certain charge of energy) and these horrible deaths can be balanced and seen in a new light as a tool of experience and growth.
The early lifetimes are filled with such violent deaths, and at the moment we usually biased that death horribly negative, with lots of fear, pain, etcetera. With perspective, and some lessons learned on these non-physical spectra we eventually learn that death is not something to be feared or biased negatively - we learn to see it on equilibrium. Just as night follows day and we must sleep, so must we live and die.
Here's the technical reason for the necessity of death you wont find elsewhere:
It because our souls are made up of larger and smaller cycles of energy. Each cycle has points of beginning and termination, even though they regenerate on a larger wavetrain. So we need to suspend consciousness and sleep. It's part of the wavetrain as it crosses that line of equilibrium.
So life to life we live and each life represents a cycle. Each day represents a subcycle on that larger cycle. And each hour, minute and second are filled with wave forms compounding new energy and regenerating old energy.
Extrapolated out, we see how the solar system functions in cycles, all the planets orbits, the suns cycles and even the galaxies operate on these cycles.
The reason we don't recall other physical lives in this life is because we are regenerating on a different frequency. The data from those previous lives still is the root of our life, but it can only be remembered from the greater cycle - at which point ALL physical lives are remembered simultaneously and in totality. It's at these times when our consciousness can function from this greater cycle, that we now can plan a course of action for balancing those imbalanced lives and experiences. We create a master plan - and put it into action.
So yes, that life-departing sensation is all too familiar...but it must not be seen only in a negative light.
