I know just what you mean...
Everybody to the left of me, politically, is (at best) an unreasonable, starry-eyed, naive and impractical, self-indulgent socialist. Now the people to the right of me....
But maybe you've stumbled onto a way of quantifying the difference in our expectations and evaluations. Instead of "half the people", I would
have guessed about 10-20%. We're both convinced we're perfect centrists, we just don't agree on where the center is. And although there may be a way to determine our relative differences, there is no way to peg where that middle is actually located.
