re: Gas Guilt

I live out in the country and as long as I limit myself to the local bank, post office and supermarket, I am OK. I also work close enough to home that gas in not all that expensive to me. However, all my friends are either 10 or 20 miles from me, so going out is getting expensive. Going into Asheville and back eats up a lot of gas.

Although this hasn't really hit what's left my pocket book, I CAN see the writing on the wall.
These gas prices are going to destroy what's left of our faltering economy and is going to push those in poverty into dire straits as food prices go up. If food becomes inaccessible to the poor, you can bet your sweet bippy the crime rate will go up. People with money and nice cars wil fall victim to the lower class.

The next problem comes with shipping.....by truck, rail, plane and boat. Some things just will not be available and if they are, they wil be exorbitantly priced. Therefore, there will be shortages of all kinds and this will ricochet in every corner of commerce in America. With money being tight for loans, foreclosures on the rise and unemployment soaring, you can also expect the middle class to take a hit. It COULD get ugly.

With the weather being driven to extremes by who or God knows what, more "natural" disasters are on it's way. Frankly ER, I'm glad I don't have all my eggs in your basket in heavily populated South Florida. I was back in Florida a couple of weeks ago and see what is happening there as well. Most all of your products are shipped down to you. If you get a bad hurricane season, or even ONE disaster, you and your idyllic life are at risk.

You should be thinking about having a motorhome that you could drive out of harms way and park up here in the mountains somewhere in the east. Either that, or have a second hideaway somewhere safe, even if it's a mobile home.
