The hyperbole that acting on AGW would destroy us is a falsehood... I hope you are starting to see that.
Standing alone, your statement is absolutely correct, and you did prove that article wrong. Unfortunately, most of the people who are going to be doing the "acting" aren't going to be building nuclear reactors, hydroelectric dams or, I suspect, even big solar plants.
They want the Procrustean approach, which is to saw off parts of the Western economy until it matches their long-standing ideal of a "limited" society, controlled at all levels by an enlightened leadership.
If you want proof, all you have to do is look at the actual solutions being pushed on us by our own politicians, and those around the world. See any major nuclear development? More hydroelectric? Hell, some Europeans are trying to shut down the nukes they've got, and our own environmentalists have long demanded dismantling hydroelectric dams to the greater glory of Gaea.
The issue isn't the reality of global warming, or the practicality of existing solutions like nuclear. The issue is that it isn't about the environment or energy for these people, and never has been, which is why it's utterly irrelevant to them whether the science is real or not. It's just the latest tool they're using to gain power and confiscate wealth.
I hope someday you'll start to see THAT.
