No I don't believe the son-of-God stuff for a moment, in fact, I don't believe in God at all. And I can't imagine what they could have possibly been thinking when they came up with the Trinity nonsense.
Still, the Christian concepts as presented in the New Testament are a humane and highly sophisticated world view which, in its original form, was way ahead of its time. It took the Judaic idea of of an abstract moral principle governing the Universe, not a pantheon of cruel, capricious and quarrelsome gods which had to be constantly brown-nosed just to keep them from crushing you on a whim. Then it made that principle general and human. It was a philosophy that made no preferences on wealth, birth, social rank, sex, race or any other factor other than personal morality which was directed to others.
And unlike any religion before or since, it had the Godhead come to earth and suffer with us, to see for himself, in a way, just what a hard road he had set us on. No, one doesn't have to be religious, or even a theist, to see that this philosophy is one of great beauty and humanity. Jesus was one of history's great minds and hearts and deserves to be honored and respected on that level. The religions based on his teachings, however, are utter bilge.
