Not three, there are four sides to these coins: matter, energy, space and time. Or perhaps just two coins, since matter-energy and space-time are each interchangeable with the other.
Of course, the number that lies between four and two IS three, or alternatively, the average of 4 and 2 is also 3, (obviously not a coincidence) so if you juggle the numbers enough you can come up with any combination you need to "prove" the non-sequitur you have convinced yourself is a deep insight into the nature of reality.
The Hindus have 7 chakras, which is four + three, or even 2 plus 2 plus three, a trinity of numbers! The Buddhists have their Eightfold Path, which is 4 x 2, or 2 x 2 x 2, which gives us yet another trinity. My God, there is evidence EVERYWHERE!
The Amerinds had 4 winds, the Greeks 4 elements, there are 4 cardinal compass directions, and 4 is important since if you subtract the sacred unity 1 from 4 you get THREE! There is another Trinity again! More evidence!
Three faces of Eve, the good the bad and the ugly, three into two won't go, Three's a crowd, three coins in a fountain, which brings us back to our coins again!!!!!!! there are hints and clues scattered everywhere you look! How can anyone else not see it? "GOD" has three letters in it! What more proof do you need? Even the founding fathers wore tricorns.
And the ultimate mathematical truth: The triangle is the polygon with the least number of sides...and what about the Bermuda TRIANGLE?
The definition of intelligence is the ability to find relationship and pattern where none exists.
And Foucault's Pendulum was written by Umberto EcO and Eco HAS THREE LETTERS.
Aum, Aum, Aumigod.
