I may have heard of TED in passing, but had no idea of their mission. Haidt's talk was a great introduction, and I plan to watch as many of the 200 talks online as I can.
Haidt presented a solid conceptual framework for ideas I've been groping toward for a long time. Toward the end he observes that Liberals and Conservatives need each other, that we form a healthy balance, a yin and yang, and I couldn't agree more. Yet I'm still troubled by the feeling that that is a somewhat Liberal idea, and if Conservatives resist the idea--"my way or the highway", "yer either for us or yer against us", the balance can never be restored. Quite a conundrum.
Thank you very much for that link, JEKing.
