I graduated from USF in '71

And went back and got my MA in '77. A lot has happened since then.

I started there in '64, the year it graduated its first class. According to my student number I was approximately the 15,900th student to enroll there. Today there are twice that many students matriculated there at any one time. It is much bigger now, and much busier. The business department is huge, but was tiny when I was there, and there are fraternal organizations and sports teams, both banned while I was a student. OTOH, it had an Astronomy department, and now it doesn't. I don't think I'd like going to school there now, but I loved it there while I was a student.

All I know about Florida Southern was the architecture, and like in all other Frank LLoyd Wright buildings I've ever been in, I felt perfectly comfortable and at home when I visited there. I particularly liked the covered walkway next to a long sunken chem lab (it may be something else, now) with windows at ground level. I always felt that would have been a lab I could work in for days without a break. I also liked the buildings added since FLW, the architects did a great job of fittng them in to his style. It must have been great going to school there.

I'm 5'7", myself, so I always felt comfortable under his low ceilings, and loved his narrow corridors and stairwells. They felt cozy. When I visited
Fallingwater in Pennsylvania, I was so impressed the first thought that entered my mind was "If we're ever visited by extraterrestrial ambassadors ,THIS is where we should conduct the negotiations." The place is the most beautiful building I've ever been in.
