re: You misunderstood

"Listen to him again. It's subtle, I'm not surprised you missed it. He's comparing the cost of combat operations in Iraq with the cost of rebuilding Afghanistan. Better researchers than you have pointed out that Biden is very close."

Perhaps, but it's distinction without any meaning.

For example has anyone calculated solely the cost of combat type operation in Iraq?
In comparison to the logistical cost, or peacekeeping type operations in Iraq- or zillions of other ways one could break down costs of separate but interdependent operations required to win the war in Iraq?

If he merely meant the difference between State Dept budget vs Pentagon budgets he should have said so- though everyone would considered him particularly stupid for making such apple to oranges comparisons.

But anyone listening to Biden who got the idea that the war effort cost difference between Iraq and Afghanistan was in the ballpark of 3 weeks compared to 6 1/2 years*, would have recieved false information.
Granted, assuming they are adults, they should have known better than expect any Senator to say anything which was truthful.

I'm with Mary Anne, Biden has the capability to sell houses. In fact I imagine most Senators would do a pretty good job at selling houses.

Just think, if we had say 1000 times more US Senators than we presently have, we could deploy them as real estate agents and they could help solve the the housing crisis.

*"Look, we have spent more money —
....
Let me say it again. Three weeks in Iraq; seven years — seven years, or 6 1/2 years, in Afghanistan."
