How could I possibly disagree? But I have to acknowledge Socrates's point that shallowness and vapidity are hardly a barrier to success in modern America; in some circles they're a prerequisite. The Joe Sixpack circle, just for one example.

Biden satisfied me, too, but in the post above I was trying to look at it objectively, and judge how Palin did across all demographics. Unfortunately, I think that there's a good chance that by tomorrow a lot of the punditry will be calling Palin the "winner" (an execrable concept in its own right) based on how she galvanized the base (in the most literal sense of eliciting a galvanic knee-jerk response from them).

I'm afraid that Bowser's tongue-in-cheek post about Palin's strategy of going topless during the debate contains a tiny turd o'truth. I suspect that quite a few of her target demographic are judging her as a sort of orthogonal First Lady...not the President-in-Waiting, but the First Babe, if you'll forgive the expression.

The woman is married to the First Dude of Alaska. I rest my case.
