A couple of years ago I was talking with a fellow I know rather well who found himself in an interpersonal and financial mess, one more time. This fellow is extremely bright, an award-winning architect. I absolutely marvel at some of his stuff, having no idea from whence came the ideas. One day, thinking about him and his problems, I came to a conclusion I shared with the guy next time I saw him.
Intelligence, Michael, is like a car. You happen to have a Lamborghini or some such, one of the fastest, most maneuverable and fun cars in the world.
And, Michael, the driver of your car has a crazy streak. Stark, raving mad!
(While not as bright, I believe I am smarter than I have lived. The driver of my vehicle isn't all that rational, either.)
We still laugh over that.
