Dynamical variations between individual molecules (caused by Gaussian distribution of particle velocities of a gas in thermal and radiative equilibrium) express themselves as broadening of spectral lines. Staightforward simple spectroscopy. You can see it emission and absorption stellar spectra all the time.
And by the way, you missed a glaring error in my description, in the second paragraph, I talk about electron transitions in energy levels, but this occurs only in individual atoms and ions, the type of gases I'm used to working with. In molecules, the discrete energy states are defined by different vibrational modes in the molecules, not quantum states of the electron shells. (Yep, I broke out the old textbooks to refresh my memory).
This doesn't affect the main thrust of my post, but it does illustrate you haven't a clue what you're talking about, or you would quickly have spotted it and gleefully rubbed my nose it. You're a fraud, Sputnick. Go crawl back to your gaseous domains.
I still am open to having any independent Zoner with knowledge of spectroscopy review my post and subject it to criticism.
