I agree with your premise. And if one looks at those characteristics of human nature which leads to individual and collective problems they come up with the Seven Deadly Sins.
Many of those center around greed and the concept of private property comes from that. The first affluent societies didn't recognize private property, and each person in it had access to the resources of the community. Because they were members. Some people call that "grace".
And communities were small enough that each person was accountable. Secrets were minimal, and people tended not to do things they didn't want everyone to know about.
As communities got larger private property became important and people became less accountable. And societies deteriorated.
I believe, for instance, that every vehicle should have the name, address and phone number of the owner printed in large letters on all sides.
Christ lived in communes, the military in combat is a commune, combat ships are communes.
Can anyone imagine the Starship Enterprise being run under capitalism? Or a Mars colony? How about a grunt on the beaches of Normandy?
"Excuse me but I need about 100 rounds of 30 cal. for my M1."
"Yeah, I've got that. Price has gone up, you couldn't believe the demand. They're just shooting the shit out of it today. I can let you have it for 60 cents a round, you won't find a better deal anywhere."
"Damn, I left my wallet on the ship. Can you let me have it for now, I'm good for it."
"Shit, man, I'd love to but you know a lot of you guys just aren't making it, and then I'm out. I wish I could. Now, excuse me, there's a guy over there waving cash at me. Gotta go."
